Add.Or.2966-3002. Album of 37 drawings by staff and students of the Sir Jamshetji Jejeebhoy School of Art, Bombay, c.1941, illustrating themes and games from childhood from various parts of India, together with lists of signatures of the children of Bombay who had contributed at least a rupee for the benefit of distressed children during the bombing of Britain in World War II, 13 of the lists headed with additional vignettes, and sent with the donations to the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose. Album bound in morocco, the title-page bearing the arms of Bombay and inscribed: 'Gift Book from the Children of Bombay', similarly stamped in gold on the front cover, together with a copy of a letter from Lady Lumley at Government House, Bombay: 'This book contains the signatures of children of Bombay, of all communities and creeds, who want to help children in Great Britain who have suffered through Air Raids. ... The Book has been illustrated with original drawings by the Staff and Students of the Sir J.J. School of Art, Bombay, which they have specially done as their contribution to this effort'; and foreword by Charles Gerrard, Director of the school. Various media; size of album 37.5 by 27.5 cm; size of drawings 25 by 20 cm. Presented by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, 1954.
