Description (What the record is about)
-
This register includes only military personnel injured during World War I, who were admitted to two previously closed wards (Wynn Ellis) on the upper floor of the hospital especially converted for their use. Also included are some foreign personnel (mainly Australian and Canadian soldiers).
The volume gives the following information: regiment name and number; patient's name, rank, age, home address, religion and marital status; length of service at home and, if relevant, overseas; dates of admission and discharge; diagnosis; date of operation/x-ray (if relevant), name of doctor and whether or not the patient benefited from the treatment.
It is worth noting that military personnel can also be found in the other types of patient registers, although none give such detailed information concerning their military background.
