Mr. R. H. Lucas (1888-1956), a New Zealander, joined Kent and Canterbury Hospital as a surgeon in 1931 and retired in 1956.
He left temporarily to serve in World War II, during which time Mr. Freshman [see MH/T4/Kc 4] took on his workload.
