(4) pp. 169-77, Recapitulation of Events on Bengal Consultations, dated 24th Aug. 1780, Gen. Goddard's arrival from Bengal at Bombay, Capture of Ahmedabad, defeat of the Marathas and of Sindhia, Capt. [William] Bruce, in conjunction with Rana of Gohad, defeats the Marathas, Capt. Popham captures Gwalior. Faria de Sousa mentions this employment of Brahmin Spies by the Indian Princes when the Portuguese first arrived in India.
