The Marshall family documented in this collection lived in several places in Oxfordshire, notably Enstone, Little Tew, Sandford St Martin, Iffley, and Westcote Barton.
Their papers relate to the property they held, their interests and activities, and the history of the family. Genealogical research documents and notes were compiled and collected by a successive generations, mostly in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The family members mainly featured include: Ralph Marshall of Little Tew (d.1669), Nicholas Marshall of Enstone (d. 1713), Nicholas Marshall of Enstone (1702-1764), Revd Nicholas Marshall Hacker of Enstone (1768-1827), Revd Edward Marshall Hacker of Iffley, Enstone & Sandford St.Martin (1774-1839), Revd. Edward Marshall of Sandford St.Martin (1815-1899), Rev Jenner Marshall Hacker of Westcott Barton (1817-1904), Edward Henry Marshall of Sandford St. Martin (1851-1909), Julia Elizabeth Marshall (1878-1947) and Edward Ralph Marshall (b. 1882).
There are also papers relating to families connected with the Marshalls, principally Hacker, Burton and Taylor.
The records were almost all deposited in three stages between 1968 and 1971 (accession numbers 712, 751 & 756). -
