Description (What the record is about)
-
Opened in 1914 to house the collections of the local Naturalists' Society, Letchworth Museum & Art Gallery features a Natural History Gallery together with displays on the history of the area with emphasis on the Iron Age and Roman periods. It is not the museum's policy to collect archival material. The First Garden City Heritage Museum holds the archival material relating to Letchworth. Records held include an Apprenticeship Identure from Totteridge Green 1875, a poster for Queen Victoria's Jubilee 1887 and a small collection of individual photographs and glass plates 1860s to early 20th century, most of which do not relate to Letchworth but are a record of travels in Britain and abroad.
