Salt Duty

Stephen Bexfield, master, and Simon Wilson, mate, of brigantine 'The Chance' of North Yarmouth, stated on oath that on 23 June last they shipped at Liverpool 3885 bushels 18lbs of British fishery salt to carry it to St. Ives on account of Richard Connock and John Connock, fish curers. They sailed from Liverpool on 24 June, arriving at St. Ives on 1 July. On the voyage they ran into a storm, the vessel took in water and 103 bushels 18lbs of salt was lost: Collector of Excise to vacate bond.

Edward Dunstone committed to bridewell for want of sureties in breach of peace against Richard Fulfit [?Fulpit]: to remain in custody.
