Born Bettws Vicarage, Newtown 10/8/1882; educ Burton-on-Trent Grammar Sch; went Brazil 1909 and settled at Ceara as a clerk in the London & Brazilian Bank; ret UK 1915 and Gaz 2Lt 7 RWF 1/7/15; promLt 1/2/17. To Egypt Dec 1915, served EEF in Palestine from July 1916. App Asst Adjt, and KIA 20/9/18, buried at El Muyheir. MC (LG 26/7/18) for conspicuous bravery in the field. Unmarried.;Other Notes: HUGHES-DAVIES, Lieutenant, ARTHUR GWYNNE, MC, 7th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers and 53rd Bn. Machine Gun Corps (Inf). Killed in action 20th September 1918. Age 36. Son of the Rev. Thomas Hughes-Davies and Frances Maria Davies, of "Ivy Dene," Leafield, Witney, Oxon. Born at Bettws Vicarage, Mont. Y. 19. Jerusalem War Cemetery, Palestine
