Red full-leather bound album measuring 320x482mm, with title as above stamped in gold on front cover. Marbled endpapers. Prints are mounted on the recto of each page, with printed captions beneath. The album contains in addition three maps: the first, laid down onto the verso of the front free endpaper, shows the general alignment of the railway (copy neg B.13214); the two at the back of the album show a diagram of the hill section illustrating relative heights (copy neg B.13248), and a detailed plan of the hill section (copy neg B.13249). The photographs in the album show bridges, cuttings, lengths of track and tunnels on the line between Badarpur and Langting, with two additional prints (31-2) showing bridges at the northen end of the line near Margherita. Prints captions give the location of each photograph in miles and fractions of a mile and the position each photograph is marked on the last map in the album (fractions, apart from ½ and ¼ have not been listed in the catalogue). The actual opening of the line by Lord Curzon is not included.
