5th Jan. 1862. W.Shaw & Co. from Liverpool, asking for a list of cattle fairs for the year.

26th Mar. 1862. Opening only of a letter from the Town Hall.

20th May 1862. Thomas Probert to John Walker, Town Clerk, withdrawing his nomination of Mr. Robert Jones as a candidate for the office of councillor for St. John's Ward. Mark of Thomas Probert; witness - Owen Hughes.

20th May 1862. Return for Mr. Charles Dutton, Nicholas Street, wine merchant, as Councillor for St. John's Ward. Signed: E. French, Alderman; William Bilson and John Higgins, Assessors.

Michaelmas 1862. Bill, with engraved heading, from John Hitchen, builder and general contractor, Dee Basin Works, Chester.

n.d. Saml. Taylor to the Mayor and Town Council. He has been inspecting the Market for many years. The Improvement Act gives the Inspector the power to search any place. As he cannot do it as well for the very small salary he gets, it is essential that some-one should look after the slaughter houses. In Liverpool there are three inspectors at £75 per annum each.
