The files in this sub-fonds contain the working papers of the entire Corporation, those which were not kept personally by the Chief Officers and their departments. They are a rich resource of information and provide a thorough insight into the workings of the Corporation and the myriad activities they undertook. These files have been catalogued in a way which reflects, as far as is possible, their original arrangement. Most files included a title, reference number, and a 'transfer case' number written on the outside folder. The reference number was presumably the code used to order each file. The meaning of the transfer case number was not understood at the time of cataloguing, but has been retained for the future.
