Description

This series includes research material relating to every aspect of the Grand Tour, and Italian life more generally in the 18th century. It appears to have been compiled primarily by Brinsley Ford in order to provide contextual background information for his unpublished text 'Aspects of the Grand Tour'. It was probably consulted by John Ingamells for the same purpose during the compilation of the 'Dictionary of British and Irish travellers in Italy'.
