Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to theSecretary of State for India, No. 57 of 1870, dated 7 December 1870, containingenclosures dated 30 November-5 December 1870. The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relatingto a visit to Kerbala [Karbala] by the Shah of Persia [Nāṣir al-Dīn ShāhQājār, Shāh of Iran], and considerations by the Government of India ofwhether to send a high-ranking officer to meet him there. The correspondents are the British Minister,Tehran, and the Government of India.
