Administrative / biographical background

This school was apparently opened in the 1870s as Wood Nook Baptist School (mixed), its Infants' Department being opened in 1880. The school was situated at the corner of Royds Street and Hudson Street, and was rebuilt and reopened as Woodnook Council School in 1909. The Infants' School closed in 1983, when the school became Woodnook County Primary School.
