Description

(i) Henry Hele of the Close of New Sarum (co. Wilts), doctor in physic;

(ii) Sir Alexander Powell of New Sarum (a trustee for (i)); and

(iii) William Merefield of Woolminstone in Crewkerne, esq.

[Recites: Indenture dated 20 Dec. 1752 of Henry Hele to Will. Merefield, (Itself reciting (a) Lease and Release, dated 8, 9 May 1752, between (i) sd. W. M. (eld. son and heir of W. M. of Woolminstone, esq., decd., by wife Susanna, also decd.), and wife Mary, (ii) Sir A. P. (then A. P., gent.), and (iii) Henry Hele, by which the tenements of W. M. were conveyed to Sir A. P. in trust for H. H. for ever; and (b) that certain messuages, etc., were not intended to be granted by (a)) by which Indenture H. H. agreed that Sir A. P. might at any time thereafter grant or assign to the sd. W. M. :

Dw. house, etc., cont. 1 ac., formerly in possn. of John Austin, and then untenanted; dw. house, etc., cont. 1½ ac. then in possn. of George Butler; 3 dw. houses, whereof one is a public house called "The Horseshoe", then in ten. of Mary Bragg, widow, Andrew Bargery and William Larcam; the reserved rents of 7s. per annum payable out of the above premises; and 1 ac. of past. then in ten. of Earl Pawlet; all in Hewish and parcel of the manor, and whereof the sd. W. M. (party hereto) was seised of an estate of inheritance in fee simple. Also 2 dw. houses then in possn. of Richard Dodge and Thomas Austin; 2 closes of mdw. or past. called the Higher and Lower Beatlands (12 ac.) then in possn. of John Donne, gent.; and 2 closes of mdw. called the Backside and Twin Meadow then in possn. of James Bushell, but now of John Thomas of Hewish; all in Hewish, and held by W. M. for the life of Ann Shire, widow, or a term of 99 years determinable on her death]

The sd. 5 dwelling houses and reserved rents [as above recited].

(To hold to W. M. for ever).

Also in consideration of £21 paid to W. M., he releases:

The sd. 1 ac. of past. [as above], which is inclosed and planted with fir trees and situate at Cuckow Hill in the manor of Hewish, and now in the possn. of Vere, Earl Poulett.

(To hold to Sir A. P. in trust for H. H. for ever).
