North Eastern Steel Co Ltd were based at Acklam Works, Middlesbrough. The company was registered on 9 July 1881 and on 1 January 1896, acquired the business of the Acklam Iron Co. In 1903 they became part of Dorman, Long and Co and in 1923 all of Dorman Long's subsidiary companies were liquidated and the assets transferred to the parent company. [Source: Grace's Guide]
