Engine control had deteriorated seriously in more recent flights, causing dangerous situations on two occasions during the demonstration in Switzerland last week. a. Failure of the engine to respond quickly during an attempt to demonstrate a baulked landing. b. The engine blow-out at the end of a high-speed low-level run. c. The overspeed governor has been changed and the engine had run at 9,000 rpm on one occasion. d. Acceleration of the engine was sometimes very noticably slow, especially during taxiing. e. The difficulty in setting a given rpm accurately had increased.
