Folio 409. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to A Catton [Alfred Catton], assistant overseer, Bawdeswell within the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union. They write upon receiving from the district auditor a report following his audit of the accounts of the parish of Bawdeswell for the half year ended 29 September 1879. He has reported that the rate receipt check book was not submitted to the overseers for examination and also that Catton did not deliver copies of monthly statements to the guardians or overseers. They request that irregularities similar to those reported by the auditor do not occur again. They enclose extracts from the General Order for Accounts of 14 January 1885, drawing his attention to Articles 8 and 11 of Order.
