Collection of 160 original ms letters and diaries written, August 1940 - September 1945, while serving in the RAF including descriptions of his basic and wireless training, August 1940 - September 1941, his training as a pilot in England and the USA, September 1941 - March 1942, then as a navigator, March 1942, his operational flying in Halifax bombers with No. 76 Squadron RAF (Bomber Command) based at RAF Holme-on-Spalding Moor, June - November 1943, and his time as a POW in Stalag Luft 1, November 1943 - May 1945; together with microfilm copy of ts transcription (377pp) these letters and diaries, "An Airman Writes From The War" prepared in 1983; and drawings he made of the camp and fellow POWs whilst in Stalag Luft 1.
