Description (What the record is about)
-
This series of files relates to each of the properties or estates, known as 'Schemes', acquired by the Agricultural Officer as part of the County Farms estate. Material should exist on every such estate and includes correspondence on almost any aspect of the management and administration of each Scheme including detailed information on tenancy, cropping, land drainage, building maintenance and development on the land including the roads serving the particular holdings concerned. Consequently this class is probably the best starting point for any research into any part of the estate and should be used in conjunction with the documentary evidence of title to the estate (see below) and the other classes of records retained in the AO archive which, in relation to the 'Schemes', offer more specialised subject based insights into the work and developement of the County Farms Estate. The Estate plans class (AO/EP), incidentally, appears to have been a separate series of Ordnance Survey derived and other drawings and plans of the estate's Schemes an may relicate some of the plans to be found in the AO/S series.
