Single-acting engine, with 36 inch cylinder, 8 foot stroke, parallel motion.
Reverse side view and outline plan of the engine, Dec. 1799; reverse drawings, May 1800 - general view and plan of the engine and boiler; reverse sections and plans of the engine house, drawings of the cistern; plans and sections of the cylinder, parallel motion for the pump end of the beam - reverse drawings; stop valve boxes for pump - original and reverse drawings; pump bucket, clack and clack piece (marked "New edition 28 Aug. 1811"), pump pipes - reverse drawings; working gear - reverse front and side views; pump pipes, pump valve box etc. - reverse drawings; unmarked partially coloured drawings of pump pipes etc.; sketch of front view of pumps; sketch of pump with notes etc.; sketch plan of air pump and condenser (marked "These vessels based on 10 horse cylinder pattern…" - unclear if they are for this engine); rough sketch plan of dock with location of mortar engine, "Mr. Jessop's engine" and "Great Pump engine" marked, and notes on the Isle of Dogs Canal engine and pumps on the back; plan of proposed entrance to the dock [?]; sketch of tide levels etc., Jan. 1800. The reverse drawings bear letter codes.
