Miss Elizabeth Johnstone left a legacy of ,1000 to endow a Girls' School in St. Pancras; the Declaration of Trusts was signed in 1861, but the actual school, owing to difficulties in finding a site, was not opened until 1882 on the corner of St. Pancras and New Park Road. Like the Infants' School, the Girls' School was closed in 1933, when the pupils were transferred to the Central and Lancastrian Schools.
Add. Mss. 22,235 - 22,238 were transferred from the West Sussex County Council Modern Records Centre, on the 19th of July 1979. (Formerly D 7287).
