Description

This record is the first recorded form of Henry Cavendish's theory of electricity, written prior to his paper "An attempt to explain Some of the Principle Phenomena [sic] of Electricity by Means of an Elastic Fluid" published in "Philosophical Transactions", 31 December 1771 Vol. 61. Maxwell 1879, p410 notes that they show "the path by which Cavendish arrived at his final theory". It is paginated P1-P16.

There is a covering paper on which is written a note by William Snow Harris: "Thoughts concerning Electricity and" ["then Pages on Elect" crossed out].
