Description

Hobson Collection (Ernest Hobson of Tapton Elms). All the material was accumulated in connection with the compilation of a pedigree of Hobson, by Ernest Hobson, of Tapton Elms, Sheffield. Records including:

Original documents:

Deeds and personal papers: Hobson and Hinchliffe families: apprenticeship indentures, wills, and deeds relating to Heeley and Heeley Mill, 1608-1853 (25).

Transcripts. Register of Upper Chapel, Sheffield: baptisms, 1745-1837 and burials, 1784-1795, 1812-1836; monumental inscriptions of Upper Chapel.

Notes, genealogical. The families chiefly dealt with, besides Hobson, are Carr, Atkin, Wilson, Fisher, Dickinson or Dixon, Bennet, Mappin, Musgrove, Hinchcliffe, Nanson, Wordsworth and Wadsworth, Waterhouse, Bradbury, Birley, Moorhouse, Laycock, Girdler, Sorby, Jessop, Vickers, Jollie, Jennings.
