Poster issued by Messrs L & W Thompson, Solicitors of Judges Court, advertising auction by Mr Acton at the White Swan, Goodramgate on 22nd February 1871
"Lot 1
a commodious Dwelling- House and spacious shop with Workshops, Outbuildings and Yard behind the same, situate in High Ousegate in occupation of Mr Exley, Brush Manufacturer.

A Spacious Building Formerly used as Curriers' Shops
Etc. but now let off in separate tenements situate in one of the best business thoroughfares in the City and has a back entrance from Coppergate.Lot 2
Two dwelling-Houses with Shops thereto, situate in Coppergate in occupation of Messrs Spenceley and Thorpe. These premises are held under lease from the Merchants' Company of York for the residue of a term expiring 6th April 1875". -
