Green cloth-covered, post-bound album, measuring 273 x 227 mm, with a metal spine. The album contains snapshots mounted two or three to a page with detailed typed captions. The collection covers a broad range of locations and subjects including Indian and colonial architecture, waterways, shipping and topographical views. There are several non-photographic items in the album including prints. Subjects include: Prints 1-63—Bombay Harbour including lighthouses, houses, docks, offices of the Bombay Steam Navigation Company, shipbreaking yard, island views. Prints 64-237—The Konkun Coast including monuments and views at Alibag, Chaul, Korlai, Janjira, Srivardhan, Hareshwar, Bankot, Severndrug, Harnai, Dapoli, Boria Head, Jaigarh, Gunpati Pula, Tiveri, Mirya Bay, Ratnagiri, Jaitapur, Gheria, Vijayadurg, Malvan, Tar Karli, Newti, Kochra, Vengurla, Vadi (Savantvadi) and Riari. Prints 238-268—Portuguese India including views in Old Goa, Panaji (Panjim) and Marmagao. Prints 269-369—The North Canara Coast Topographical and architectural views in Sadashevgad, Karwar, Terringmet, Anjadip, Ankola, Belikan, Mirjan, Kumta, Sirsi, Honavar, Bhatkal, Ikeri and Bednore. Prints 370-480—The South Canara Coast Views including scenes of village life at Hungarcutta, St Mary's Isle, Busrur, Mulpi, Udupi, Mulki, Karkal, Mudabidri, Mangalore, Yenur and Jemulabad. Prints 481-571—The Malabar Coast Views including architecture at Mangeshwar, Kasaragod, Canangode, Bekal, Cannanore, Tellicherry, Anjaracardi, Quilandi, Calicut, Cochin, Calvetti, Mattancheri, Cochin Backwaters, Chenamangulam, Allepey and Trichur. Prints 572-573—Home, Venn's son and daughter. Prints 574-593—Types of sailing vessels seen on the West Coast of India Views of full rigged ships, cotton boats, etc. Duplicate negatives and modern contact prints for most of this material can be found at Photo 146/2-7.
