Administrative / biographical background

The lodge was established in 1777 and never named. In 1777 the lodge met at the Canteen, Garrison of Dover, Dover Castle, Kent. In 1793 the lodge met at the Swan Inn, Dover Pier, Dover and it remained there until the lodge handed in its warrant and sold its possessions in March 1798.

In September 1798 the lodge was reformed by some of the former members under the same warrant and again met at the Swan Inn, Dover. This lodge was named the lodge of Love and Unity in 1813 and was erased in 1837. For records of this lodge see the Lodge of Love and Unity No. 180
