Description

This collection includes a brief memoir of his service with the RFA in India, Gallipoli, Mesopotamia during the First World War and service in India in the 1920s. Also First World War correspondence and letters written to his wife during the Second World War while serving with the 1st Regiment RHA in France and after his capture at St Valery in June 1940 from various POW camps in Germany.

This collection of papers consists of two sections:- the memoirs of Lieutenant-Colonel Peppé which describe his early life and military service in India, the First World War and India up to 1926; and 3 folders of letters, from the First World War when he served at Gallipoli and in Mesopotamia with the Royal Field Artillery, and 2 folders concerning the Second World War when he served in France with 1st Regiment RHA and was captured at St Valery in June 1940, spending the remainder of the war in POW camps in Germany - Oflag VIIC; (Laufen), Oflag VIB; Oflag IX A/H (Spangenberg).
