POLLOCK PAPERS

Papers of Jonathan Pollock.

Before the present cataloguing operation, the papers were kept in a number of different bundles which were described by the Historical Manuscripts Commission in 1955. There were also items subsequently donated by the Rev. J.C.Pollock in 1971. All items have now been merged into chronological order, except for those undated items whose year of origin is unknown, which are listed after the main list, and for letters to Arthur Powell (see below). However the provenance of each item in terms of these bundles has been recorded and given below (see items 810-814 and 'List of items belonging to bundles numbered with a letter and number [A/1 etc.]' - the latter being the bundle listed in 1955).

After their first appearance in the catalogue, each member of the Pollock family is referred to by an abbreviation (usually their initials) which can be looked up in the key giving dates and explaining how each member is related. The date and place of origin of each item is given where known.
