Folio 216. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Charles Wright, Clerk to the Mitford and Launditch Rural Sanitary Authority, referring to his letter of 6 March 1875 in which he stated that the Rural Sanitary Authority desire to await the outcome of the result of the Public Health Bill, now before parliament, before commencing with the appointment of a medical officer of health for their district. The letter states that the Board cannot say what the result will be and therefore has no alternative but to see that this duty to appoint is fulfilled. The board will not object to a temporary appointment in the first instance for a period of six or twelve months.
