The All England Women's Net Ball Association was formed in 1926.
Basketball was introduced to England in 1895 from America and the students at the Madame Osterberg PE College in Dartford, Kent adapted the game and renamed it Net Ball. They played with wastepaper baskets hanging on the walls of the students gymnasium. (Programme for AENA tournament 1957, EN/CM/1)
The county championship was introduced in 1932 (Essex won), and International matches started in 1949. The first World Tournament was in 1963 in Eastbourne, England.
In 1983 the association became a registered charity. This was wound up in 2018.
