The Land Drainage Act, 1930, provided that Commissions of Sewers were to be treated, for the purposes of the Act, as if they had been constituted under the Act as a drainage board for the areas under their jurisdiction, and were to continue in force until abolished by an order under s. 4(1)(b) of the Act [20 and 21 George V, c. 44, ss. 1(4) and 83 (2).]; meanwhile they were to exercise their existing powers and also any additional powers provided by the Act [20 and 21 George V, c. 44, s 83(3).]
The rights and obligations of the Commissioners over the 'main river' lying within their jurisdiction were transferred to the River Adur Catchment Board on 23 January 1932 by the River Adur Catchment Board Transfer Order, 1932 [Statutory Rules and Orders, 1932, No. 52, made by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries under s. 4(1)(a) of the Land Drainage Act, 1930 (20 and 21 George V, c. 44).]; and the Commission was finally abolished on 1 April 1933 by the River Adur Catchment Board (River Adur Drainage District) Order, 1933 [S. R. & O., 1933, No. 309, made by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries under s. 4(1)(b) of the Land Drainage Act, 1930 (20 and 21 George V, c. 44).]
