Gallantry Notes: 19404 L./Cpl. (A./Cpl.) D. Dudley, M.G.C. (Brithdir) (LG 3 Sept. 1918)
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Under a heavy artillery barrage he kept his gun in action, inflicting severe losses on the enemy. When they several times got within bombing distance he successfully drove them off. On his gun being damaged by a shell, he took his rifle and killed several of the enemy at close range, then got his gun away, repaired it, and came into action again.

19404 Sjt. D. Dudley, D.C.M., 3rd Bn., M.G. Corps (Cardiff) (LG 10 Jan. 1920)
For great courage and devotion to duty during operations at Seranvillers on 8th October, 1918. His section was heavily shelled in its assembly positions, and the section officer and section serjeant became casualties. He immediately took command of the section and, despite the intensity of the hostile barrage, moved forward with his men and limber in support of the attacking infantry. The objective gained, he led his section to the position assigned to them for consolidation and got his guns into action, assisting greatly in beating off the enemy counter-attack.
(D.C.M. gazetted 3rd September, 1918.);
