Three albums of photographs, plus part of Album A.53, containing in toto 410 prints, covering Stein's expedition in southern Balochistan from December 1927 to April 1928. The tour is described in detail in his An Archaeological Tour of Gedrosia (Memoirs of the Archaeological Survey of India No. 43, Calcutta, 1931). This also contains a good map of the journey, with archaeological sites marked. Where prints from the albums have been reproduced in the published account, this is noted in the catalogue. A.54 Prints 1-96 Blue cloth covered album measuring 160x240mm, containing 97 prints (numbered sequence plus ome duplicate), in window mounts measuring 97x71mm. With typescript labels beneath each print supplying date and location of photograph. Photographs taken between 15 January and 17 February 1928, at Darran, Ganz, Gatti, Gwadar, Jabal-i-Mahdi, Jiwanri, Kalatuk, Meta Singh, Nazarabad, Pisal Plateau, Shahi-tump, Suktagen-dor, Suntsar, Take-dap, Tump, Tumpak, Zangian-damb. A.56 Prints 193-288 Green cloth covered album measuring 158x242mm, containing 96 prints in window mounts measuring 71x97mm. With typescript labels beneath each print supplying date and location of photograph. Photographs taken between 17 February and 16 March 1928, at Adasta-damb, Ashal, Awaran-kalat, Bazdad-kalat, Firoz-Khan-damb, Gat-barit, Gate-dap, Gushanak, Hoshab, Jaren, Jhai Spet-damb, Kambar-damb, Kulli, Labach, Madak-kalat, Malar, Pak, Rodkan, Sahar-kalat, Shahi-tump, Siah-damb (Jhau), Siah-damb (Nundara), Singi-kalat, Tikri-damb, Zik. A.57 Prints 289-385 Black cloth covered album measuring 155x238mm, containing 99 prints in aperture mounts measuring 71x97mm. With typescript labels beneath each print supplying date and location of photograph. Photographs taken between 17 March and 9 April 1928, at Awaran, Baghwana, Bajoi, Drakalo, Gajar, Hala-damb, Jauri Pass, Kalaro-damb, Kand, Karim-dad-gatti, Khozdar, Lakorian, Mehi-damb, Men-damb, Mianrah, Miri-but, Mugali, Nal, Nokjo Shahdinzai, Riku, Saka-kalat, Shari-damb, Siah-damb (Nundara), Sohr-damb, Sorak, Spet-bulandi, Suneri-damb, Ughar, Wadh, Wahir, Yek-kandagi-shank, Zidi. Final section of this part of the collection is contained in:. A.53 Prints 386-401 Brown cloth covered album measuring 155x238mm, containing 22 prints from this collection at back of volume. A few prints are loose, the majority inserted in window mounts measuring 71x97mm. Prints 386-393 have typescript labels beneath each print supplying date and location. Prints 394-403 are either briefly captioned in pencil or uncaptioned. (Print 402 is loose but with typed caption slip and from its date (4 April) should have been inserted earlier in the sequence). Photographs taken from 10 April 1928 onwards (terminal date uncertain), at Kalat, Chashma, Spet-bulandi, Taxila, Muzaffarabad, Srinagar, Muni.
