Immediate source of acquisition

The records were deposited by the parish in three accessions. Accession 2060 was deposited in 1971 and was later recatalogued and incorporated into accession 2788 which was deposited by the rector in 1978.

Accession 4653 was made in 1999.

This revised catalogue only contains items deposited by the Church

Administrative / biographical background

Bury is an ancient parish. Until 1837 it was within the Diocese of Lincoln; since 1837 it has belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, in the diocese of Ely.

The parish was in St. Ives Poor Law Union 1836-1930; St. Ives Rural Sanitary District 1875-1894; and St. Ives Rural District 1894-1974. Since 1974 the parish has been within Huntingdonshire District.
