Bury is an ancient parish. Until 1837 it was within the Diocese of Lincoln; since 1837 it has belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, in the diocese of Ely.
The parish was in St. Ives Poor Law Union 1836-1930; St. Ives Rural Sanitary District 1875-1894; and St. Ives Rural District 1894-1974. Since 1974 the parish has been within Huntingdonshire District.
