Has received letter from [Betty] Patterson in reply to his letter of sympathy on the death of her husband, [Lindo]. The laboratory wants to replace Patterson with a crystallographer working on proteins or nucleic acids. Asks if Phillips knows of anyone suitable. Comments on his stay with Ripley in Tucson. Comments on the work being done by Harker, Lipscombe and Richards on the structure of proteins. Lipscombe had an ingenious way of plotting results from the computer which made the drawing of contours straightforward.
