Description

RCP-LEGAC/2411/62. Sir William Alexander Mackinnon. Als to Sir Dyce Duckworth stating that according to his records G.T.H. Thomas had no qualifications of the R.C.P. and he would ask him for an explanation. 5 Jan. 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/63. G.T.H. Thomas. Als to Sir Dyce Dockworth stating that he had forgotten to ask Messrs. Churchill to erase the letters L.R.C.P. after his name, but had now done so. 15 Jan. 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/64. Copy of Als from Sir Dyce Duckworth to Sir William Mackinnon, stating Messrs. Churchill were not likely to have misrepresented Mr. Thomas's qualifications; that it was strange he had allowed the letters to remain for so long; and that he thought it was a case of deliberate on Mr. Thomas's part. 26 Jan. 1894

RCP-LEGAC/2411/65. Sir William Alexander Mackinnon. Manuscript letter to Sir Dyce Duckworth stating he thought the matter a serious one which should be taken up by the College and suggesting he should write to the Permanent under Secretary of State for war. 2 Feb. 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/66. G.T.M. Thomas. Manuscript letter to Dr. Liveing stating he had sent the erroneous entry to Messrs. Churchill as an experiment to see if they would insert whatever was sent to them; that he had never meant to assume a Diploma he did not possess; and that he had intended to write to Messrs. Churchill to ask them to erase the entry. 6 April 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/67. Copy of letter from Edward Liveing to Messrs. Churchill, stating that since Mr. Thomas had asked for the entry to be corrected, the College had finished with the matter, but the Director General of the Army Medical Department had been informed, and his letter would be laid before the Censors Board; and asking whether Mr. Thomas had made a return to them in 1893 after being informed of the error. 21 April 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/68. Messrs. J. & A. Churchill to Dr. Liveing stating Mr. Thomas had made no return during 1893. 23 April 1894.

RCP-LEGAC/2411/69. Envelope with notes re above case. [1894].

RCP-LEGAC/2411/65a. Sir Dyce Duckworth. Manuscript letter to Dr. Liveing stating he had seen at Messrs. Churchill the original writing of Surgeon Captain Thomas describing himself as L.R.C.P.; and noting he had got into their Circular with this fraud for ten years consecutively. 4 Feb. 1894.
