Assignment by William Sowthern of Rowington, clerk, to Shakespear Hart, of Stratford upon Avon, glasier, for £20, of a lease by Charles [Sackville], Earl of Dorset and Middlesex, dated 23 December 1703, of a messuage in Old Street, Stratford upon Avon, having land of William Combe, esq., the Church-way lane, the river of Avon and a tenement of Elizabeth Bromley on all sides, together with six 'lands' of arable ground in the fields of Old Stratford, viz. in the furlongs there known as Welcomb Hill, Broad Mere, the Guild Pitts field, and Marlebrooke furlongs, and one 'ley of greensward ground' in the Ham, all being then or late in the tenure of Robert Sowthern, for 99 years terminable with the lives of Anne, Hannah and Mary Hurst, spinsters, daughters of George Hurst, deceased, at a yearly rent of £3.10.
