Administrative / biographical background

Introduction

Barley Congregational Church was established in 1841 to meet public demand. On 22 March 1841 a public meeting was held to assess public interest (see NR3/1/1) and in May a further meeting was held to arrange for the erection of a chapel.

In 1846 the Church called its first minister "to solve internal dissensions" and reorganize the Church with stated principles (see NR3/1/2).

In 1972 the Congregational Church joined with that of Great Chishill (Cambs) and became the Great Chishill with Barley Reformed Church in Barley Rd.
