Description (What the record is about)
-
These are counterpart leases granted by the Trustees, leasing out lands formerly in the possession of bishops, and deans and chapters. With them are the bonds of the lessees to keep the covenants in their leases. The Trustees granted only short leases, usually from two to six years, so that they were able to lease their estates at fully economic rents. These, and other leases granted by the Trustees, but not surviving here, were tabulated and listed for reference (see COMM/11A above).
The leases are arranged in alphabetical order of parishes.
