Agreement

Whereby, having recited that, as mortgagees, Edward and Thomas Mattocks (of Coventry, ribbonmanufacturers) are owed much, therefore Elizabeth Smith (of [Walsgrave-on-] Sowe, Warws., widow), Daniel Smith (of Smethwick, Staffs., moulder), Thomas Johnson (of Walsgrave, baker) with his wife Amelia, Eliza Smith (of Foleshill, Warws., spinster) and Selina Smith (of Coventry, spinster) agree that E. and T. Mattocks shall possess a messuage at Walsgrave occupied by Elizabeth Smith (adjoining one lately inhabited by T. Johnson) for fourteen years at £13 p.a. rent until her debt is discharged, the mortgagees retaining normal foreclosure-power; the Mattocks s will repair the house and may erect a stable and piggery, in consequence of which the compensation due at the term-end (at most £30) will be determined by two arbitrators (one appointed by each of this deed's parties) or their umpire; the Mattockses relinquish the rent of Jacob Arlidge's house to Elizabeth Smith until Michaelmas next; Mrs. Smith has one calendar month's grace to remove her goods from her house; Elizabeth Smith et al will direct repairs for the Potters Green houses adjoining hers.
