Wm. Tomlinson Clapton) to Richd. How II (Aspley) ... Dr. Hall told my mother they had tried all they could think of without success, excepting quicksilver, of which I have taken almost half a pound, & tho' it hath none yet come thro' me I am very much better than before. - About Savage, the son of the Earl of Ruers, who lived with his landlady at one time - Tempted to buy a microscope, for it would be a fine amusement. - I am satisfied my disorder is not a consumption, but if it was I had need not be very afraid of death, for I believe people talk more to those in that distemper than any other. Almost every body in the coach as I go up & down say : Are you in a Consumption? You must take care of that ugly, husky cough, with many such queries, whereas if they imagined it any other disease perhaps they would hardly ask any one question.
