Description (What the record is about)
-
NORFOLK COUNTY PETTY SESSIONS TO 1975
The records of magistrates' courts in the county up to April 1975 when the petty sessional divisions were reduced in number to thirteen. The same types of records were kept in each division but the names by which they were known were not standardized. We have tried to achieve uniformity in our lists: minute books, hearing books and court registers, though different in form, contain substantially the same information while evidence books are manuscript or shorthand notes of the evidence given in court, compiled by the justices' clerk.
