Title
Memo from Mr Golovine Armstrong Siddeley Motors to Mr Chapman: Sapphire engined fighters
Date
28 May 1953
Description

As a result of enquiries made at MoS. I have collected some information on the present position with regard to the Hawker Hunter, the Gloster Javelin and the English Electric supersonic fighter. Hawker Hunter Mk.1; it is confirmed that it is operationally inadequate. The only salvation will be the Hunter 2B. Gloster Javelin; The fitting of the Sa.7 is now becoming a question of great importance. English Electric supersonic fighter: The Sa.5 should be fitted with some form of variable nozzle reheat
