Administrative / biographical background

In 1841 the London District of the MUOB left the Society, following financial difficulties, and in 1848 a new society was founded, the Operative Bricklayers' Society, based in London. In 1920 the OBS agreed that it would amalgamate with other unions to form the AUBTW.
