In these two letters Mahudel writes to the 2nd Duke concerning medals to add to his collection and of research that Mahudel has done which may be of interest to the Duke, including research relating to engraved stones and the catalogue of medals.

Nicholas Mahudel (Langres 1673 Paris 1747) was a French antiquary interested in prehistoric research. He proposed the chronological prehistoric sequence stone age - Bronze Age - Iron Age.
