On 9 Aug 1882 George Gallard, William John Williams, Joseph Harris Stretton and Evan Vaughan partitioned a piece of land (24a 3r 30p) on the E boundary of Aldrington and S of the L B and S C R Line (plan) which they had purchased from the Sackville estate the previous day; on 11 Aug Vaughan purchased Gallard's share for £3,600
Having obtained several sums by mortgage, Vaughan absconded in Jul 1885 and on 6 Feb 1893 the representatives of the mortgagees conveyed one of the allotments to the rev George William Kendall of Bradford, Yorkshire for £1,000. On 30 Jul 1900 Kendall joined William Stoneham of Fenchurch Street, London, one of the mortgagees and also a neighbouring owner, to convey land on which Lennox, Kendall, Ruskin and Stoneham Roads and Payne Avenue were already laid out (plan) to George Payne of Brighton gent and Edgar George Payne of Bayswater gent (with other land) for £11,345 (1)
On 7 Mar 1904 the Paynes sold numbers 24-34 Stoneham Road (plan) to Bertie Walter Cook of Brighton fruiterer for £1,780 who the following day sold 24, 26 and 28 to George William Kelley of Brighton fruiterer for £890 who on 20 Sept 1926 sold 24 Stoneham Road to Percy Henry Gander of Hove bootmaker for £375. On 26 Aug 1930 Gander, having discharged several mortgages, sold to the tenant, Rose Laura, wife of Sydney John Luxon Webber, NCO, for £600 (2-7)
On 19 Oct 1951 Mrs Webber, then of Bramber Haunton near Tamworth, Staffordshire, sold to Donald Frederick Thompson of Hove gent for £900, who on 27 Feb 1952 sold to Michael John Hurrell of Leytonstone engineer and Florence Evelyn his wife for £2,300. Mr and Mrs Hurrell sold to Percy John Willson of Brighton for £3,600 on 23 Jun 1966; in June 1975 it was bought by J M Willy from Christopher K Willson for £10,400 and in Jun 1980 by [blank] Atkins for £20,600 (8-21)
