Chailey Rural District Council: valuation lists and rate charge books

Valuation lists and amendments prepared under the direction of the Assessment Committee established by the Rating and Valuation Act 1925 until 1949 when this function was transferred to the Inland Revenue. These volumes are arranged by parish and give the valuation and rate charged per property and a summary of the parish valuation per property. Following the Rating and Valuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1955, the format of the lists changed in that the volumes are divided into: Section I, entries made in the preparation of the list and in its alteration before it comes into force; Section II, subsequent alterations of the list; Section III, total values.
