Description

From (a) William Cobden Rhoades of Chichester esq. to (b) Godfrey Molling of Connaught Place Hyde Park co. Middx. esq. and Mary his wife

(1) Piece of garden ground on which two messuages now stand, between the Upper and Lower West Lanes in the parish of S. Peter the Great, Chichester formerly in occ. of Jonathan Holden after of John Greenfield and now of the said William Cobden Rhoades, measuring E. to W. on the N. side 266'4" and on the S. side 264'6" and N. to S. at the E. end 149'6" and at the W. end 75'4", adjoining N. property (3) below formerly in occ. of John Crawford esq. and now of Rev. John Fullagar and S. property (5) below

(2) Messuage (formerly 2 messuages) with the shops, buildings and garden belonging, on the W. side of North Street in the parish of S. Peter the Less, Chichester, in occ. of Henry Peat; also a messuage and shop, buildings, yard and garden adjoining the same on the N. side and in occ. of Messrs. Holmes, Leather Sellers

(3) Property as in Add Mss 18119

(4) Annual rent charge of £74 19s. 6d. arising out of certain lands in N. Hayling

(5) Leasehold interest in two messuages and a garden in the parish of S. Peter the Great, Chichester in occs. of Charles Smith, George Hall and the said William Cobden Rhoades, measuring E. to W. on the N. side 257' and on the S. side 152', and in width at the E. end 104' and at the W. end 110' and adjoining E. garden ground of Harry Comper esq. and a storehouse and garden of Messrs. Henty, W. Tower Street, N. property (1) above and S. garden ground of Elizabeth Thew

Recites the following conveyances

27 April 1844. Between (a) George Charge (b) Harry Comper (c) Henry Holding (d) William Cobden Rhoades (e) Edward Rhoades. Property (1) conveyed to (e) to the use of (d) for life and thereafter to the heirs of (d)

8 Oct. 1845. Between (a) Richard and Edward Fuller (b) William Cobden Rhoades (c) Edward Rhoades. Property (2) conveyed to (c) to the use of (b) for life and thereafter to the heirs of (b)

12 July 1845. Add Mss No. 18,119 above, of property (3)

11 Nov. 1848. Between (a) William Cobden Rhoades (b) Thomas Butler esq. (c) William Cobden Rhoades. Property (4) conveyed to (b) to the use of (c) for life and thereafter to the heirs of (c)

9 Nov. 1848. Between (a) the Mayor Aldermen and Citizens of Chichester and (b) William Cobden Rhoades. Property (5) leased to (b) for 40 years at 11s. 3d. and two fat capons yearly; also under-lease of 13 Nov. 1848 to Godfrey Molling and his wife

Endorsed: 15 April 1869. Reconveyance of the freehold and re-assignment of the leasehold properties above, for £2500, from (a) Mary the widow of Godfrey Molling to (b) William Cobden Rhoades
