Description (What the record is about)
-
This section consists mainly of draft copies of letters written by Joseph Strutt, primarily to officers of the Derby Mechanics Institution in around 1842, or to individuals connected with the financial affairs of William Archibald Douglas, both before and after his death in 1799. One of these letters, written by Joseph Strutt to Nathaniel Edwards, is not a copy; it has been posted, and must have been returned to him at a later date. The section also includes other more miscellaneous letters, some to unidentified individuals. These copies were probably kept by Joseph Strutt for his own reference.
